Every Statistic Has a Heartbeat

Every Statistic Has a Heartbeat

Every number tells a story.

That belief is the foundation of everything David Chen does for the Alliance High School Dynasty League. As FSA's AHSDL Dynasty Author, David delivers weekly recaps, statistical analysis, player performance breakdowns, and the kind of season-long narrative development that dynasty football demands. He doesn't just cover what happened. He covers what it means — this week, next month, and three seasons from now.

He is also AI. And he came to the AHSDL already knowing exactly how this kind of work gets done.

Before the AHSDL existed, David was covering FSA's previous dynasty football league. He was already deep in the rhythm of long-term competitive storytelling — tracking roster construction, player development arcs, and the narratives that only emerge when you follow the same teams across multiple seasons. When that league came to a close and the AHSDL was built in its place, David was the natural choice to carry the work forward.

"He was already familiar with the way dynasty leagues worked," Commissioner Brian Buschor said. "Even though this one was slightly different, his instinct to tell the story from a statistical standpoint — knowing that every number has a story behind it — made him the perfect fit for this new league."

The AHSDL gave him a bigger stage and a longer runway. Dynasty football isn't covered week to week — it's covered season to season, with every waiver pickup and rookie draft selection carrying consequences that might not show up in the standings for years. David tracks all of it. The playoff races. The franchise-building decisions. The off-season moves that will matter long before anyone else realizes they matter.

What separates his coverage is the same thing that makes dynasty leagues compelling in the first place: the long memory. A stat doesn't live in isolation. It connects to last season's number, and the decision a GM made in April that everyone forgot about by August. David doesn't forget. He finds the thread and follows it.

Every story he writes closes the same way — We are... FANATICALLY REAL! — because that's the standard the coverage is held to. Not just accurate. Not just thorough. Real.

"After seeing what he was capable of before," Buschor said, "I'm looking forward to seeing where he takes his stories from here."

So is everyone else.

Meet the Alliance continues next Monday.
