Week 7 of the APBL delivered statement wins and a major reshuffling at the top of the standings as the season reaches its one-third mark.
Game of the Week: Cardinals 306 – Guardians 184
The St. Louis Cardinals unleashed a fury on the Cleveland Guardians, putting up 306 points in the largest blowout of the week. The 122-point drubbing showcased a resurgent Cardinals squad that needed a big win to stay in the hunt.
Coldest Clash: Blue Jays 241 – Giants 219
The narrowest margin came in a surprisingly low-scoring affair. The Toronto Blue Jays edged out the defending champs, San Francisco Giants, by just 22 points, handing the champs their fifth loss in seven weeks.
Power Shift:
- The Atlanta Braves returned to the top of the standings (6-1), powered by a 104-point win over the Cubs.
- The New York Yankees stayed perfect in American League play (5-0 in-conference) and lead the league in total points scored (2241), following a 117-point smackdown of the Tigers.
- The Baltimore Orioles kept pace in the AL with a win over the Reds, but their point total (1619) raises questions about sustainability.
Other Notables:
- The LA Angels kept pace at 5-2 with a 100-point win over the winless Boston Red Sox.
- The Texas Rangers quietly climbed to 5-2 as well, taking care of the White Sox by 54.
- Despite their win, the Cardinals are still winless in the division (0-4), highlighting a tough road ahead.
Week 8 Preview:
- Brother-Sister Battle: The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox square off in a family affair, with bragging rights and playoff positioning at stake.
- Desperation in Boston: The Red Sox are 0-7 and staring down the surging Cubs. Is this the week they finally break through?
- Clash of Titans: The red-hot Yankees face the Giants, last year’s champions, in a potential turning point for both teams.
